Corey Peters: Kentucky’s Defensive Anchor Turned NFL Mainstay
From Louisville to Lexington Standout
Corey is a graduate of historic Central HS in Louisville, Kentucky. Peters became one of the most consistent defensive forces in University of Kentucky football history. The 6’3″, 300-pound defensive tackle developed into a disruptive presence under coach Rich Brooks, earning:
• All-SEC honors (2009)
• Team captain recognition
• 33 consecutive starts to close his collegiate career
• 108 career tackles (24 for loss) and 11 sacks
Peters’ leadership helped anchor Kentucky’s defense during one of the program’s most successful eras, contributing to four consecutive bowl game appearances from 2006-2009.
NFL Longevity Against the Odds
Drafted in the 3rd round (83rd overall) by the Atlanta Falcons in 2010, Peters overcame an Achilles tear in 2013 to craft an impressive 11-year NFL career with three franchises:
Atlanta Falcons (2010-2014)
• Became a starter as a rookie
• Recorded 11 sacks over five seasons
Arizona Cardinals (2015-2021)
• Team captain and defensive leader
• Started 62 games over six seasons
• 2020 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee
Jacksonville Jaguars (2022)
• Provided veteran leadership for rebuilding the team
